Action Center is a new feature introduced in Windows 10 operating system that provides all your in-app notification on your desktop screen. This feature helps you to track all your important emails, schedules and events without fail. Since it helpful on many occasions, users loving this feature in the new operating system.
However, the users are sometimes complaining that the action center does not show the app notifications to the desktop. Moreover, the option to enable the app notification in Windows 10 also getting greyed out in Settings app. On investigating this issue, we found that the option to enable the show app notifications are getting disabled if you have got notified as “some settings are managed by your organization.”
If your computer also got disabled, the option “Show app notification” in your Windows 10 PC settings, follow this tutorial to bring back in-app notifications in the action center. This tutorial also helps you to fix the some settings are managed by your organization problem.
Quick fix to enable the greyed out show app notifications option in Windows 10 Settings:
Once the issue occurred, users also get notified as “Some settings are managed by your organization” through Windows 10 app. This problem might be caused by incorrect Group Policy configuring and registry editing. You have two possible way to bring back the apps toast notification in action center and desktop.
- Reconfiguring Group Policy
- Editing Registry editor.
Using Group Policy Editor:
Unfortunately, Group Policy tweak is only for Windows 10 Pro or above users. If you are a Windows 10 Home user, follow the alternative Registry tweak method that provided on below.
Open Run command and enter gpedit.msc to open the Group Policy editor.
Navigate to User Configuration > Administrative Templates > Start Menu and Taskbar > Notifications.
Within the Notifications folder, double click over the option “Turn off toast notifications”.
In the popped out Windows, select either Not Configured or Disable. This setting turns on toast notification for Windows 10 applications. I advise you to select the Disable option rather than selecting Not configured.
If your system still not toasting the app notifications to your desktop’s action center, follow the alternative method using Registry Editor.
Bring back the greyed out Show app notification in Windows 10 settings:
Alert: Make a backup of your Registry before editing your Windows registry.
Enter Regedit in Run command (WinKey+R) to open the Registry Editor.
Go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\PushNotifications. Right click on NoToastApplicationNotification and select Modify. Enter ‘0’ in the Value data field in the pop-up box.
If you are unable to find the Registry key, right click on CurrentVersion, select new > Key and name it as PushNotifications. Now create a new DWORD (32 bit) value with the name NoToastApplicationNotification and set the value as O.
Once you are done the all tweaks, sign out and in from your computer to take the change in effect. Now you will get the option to enable or disable show app notifications feature. Hurray… Now your Windows 10 system will you notify about new emails, app alerts to your Action Center.
